New Laser & Automation

Over the past several years, KSM Industries expanded its laser cutting capabilities with the addition of Mazak’s 8000-watt Optiplex Fiber III laser system. This advanced fiber laser provides

high-speed, high-precision cutting across a wide range of materials and thicknesses, improving both efficiency and part quality.

Following the installation of the Optiplex Fiber III in 2021, KSM added the Laserflex automation system to further enhance productivity and material handling. This automated system allows for faster load and unload operations, reducing manual handling and improving overall throughput.

To support this automation, a 19-drawer material storage tower and integrated automation system from Remmert in Germany were installed in early 2022. This storage and retrieval system improves material organization, reduces downtime between jobs, and allows continuous operation.

With a total of five laser cutting systems, including a combination punch, tap, and laser machine, KSM Industries has the flexibility to produce customer parts efficiently without disrupting existing production schedules. This expanded capacity allows us to deliver consistent quality while meeting demanding lead time requirements.
